Raising Your Arm Properly

Dr. Cheryl Wisinski, PT, DPT, WCS, (owner Midwest Physical Therapy Services) demonstrates the importance of the shoulder blade (scapula) movement necessary to raise your arm without pain or impingement, and with a greater range (mobility). The biomechanically correct way to reach up is to pull your shoulder blade towards your spine (retraction) and down as you raise your arm.
